Way back in the innocent days of 2018, Kara bravely made the move to Vancouver.

A natural globetrotter, she was coming from stints in London and Dublin, and of course, originally from Mackay, Australia. She immediately found a salon job and took to a fun new group of friends. It was this friend group that led to her meeting Jeff.

​

Now, at the time, Jeff was healing from a foolhardy urban climbing accident and was spending the summer in a wheelchair. Nevertheless, Kara took a shine. They developed a quick friendship and had many fun group nights out, all this time, Kara never knowing how tall Jeff might be out of the wheelchair.

Fast forward a couple years, and both their circumstances had evolved.

Could it be more than a friendship?

Luckily, Jeff had an ace in his sleeve: free tickets to the Rugby 7s tournament. As an Aussie, Kara couldn't resist. A fun, sports-filled day and a few other brewery days together, things were clicking. Deciding to share a bubble during a global pandemic really moved the needle, and they were officially Vancouver's newest multinational couple!

Lots of date nights, festival fun, and lazy movie afternoons, it's been a wild ride.

Last year, during another trip back to Australia, they found themselves back in the lovely beach town of Airlie Beach. After an unusually quiet and nervous day from Jeff, he managed to haul Kara way up to a viewpoint just in time for a perfect sunset.

A quick, out-of-breath proposal later, and here we are!
